Friday afternoon, “I think I will go ahead and paint this bathroom.”
I had wanted to give life to this space since we moved in. A deep rich paint color that reminded me of old-school craftsman style. Throughout the home, I made sure to add elements of old craftsman like the large baseboards and trim work, the transoms over the doors, and the window grids. We wanted our new build home to have tons of character. BUT character can also mean money, LOL, so we knew we would be DIY’ing some projects after moving in. This week, I tackled the guest bathroom!
Here is what the space looked like before! The wall color is white dove, and the trim/door color is pashmina by Ben Moore.
A trip to the hardware store to grab a removable Magnolia Home paint swatch was all it took. Click here for a link to the exact paint color.
I asked my Instagram friends if they would leave the trim pashmina or paint it monotone with the green (my pick.) I couldn’t believe everyone picked to leave it pashmina! Keep reading to find out if I listened to them or painted it monotone.
Ten AM on a Saturday… ok.. time to get started! I gave myself until ten PM on Sunday to have the entire space finished. (which was plenty of time!)
First, I tapped off everything and started painting by cutting in the paint on the edges. The space instantly started to change when the first section of Luxe Green went up. By the end of the night, the first and second coats on walls and ceiling were done. Tomorrow would be the day of clean up and decorate. All I have done so far is change out the gold frame and the hand towels for decor.
Did you guess correctly? That I would leave the trim pashmina? As soon as I saw the colors side by side, it felt right!! This choice sets the tone for the rest of the design.
And, of course, Bella was always right there. Head over to THIS POST for details on “how to stock a guest bathroom” and other sources in here.
Would you try a mid-moody tone in your bathroom? Just in case you missed it, this one is called Luxe by Magnolia Home.
